I like saying I am a "country photographer" because it describes what I find compelling to photograph: small towns and rural environments, and natural landscapes of the American West, where I live.
The American Beat is about a sense of wonder: It presents witness to what gives a sense of hometown to a community. By exploring their architecture, monuments and parks we begin to see their valuing of their traditional past, but we also see connections to today.
The American Beat also presents discovery of a community’s nearby natural landscape, where one might find wonder, beauty and solace.
The American Beat currently consists of two portfolios. Please click the links below to view them:
Check back monthly as new images and portfolios will be added to The American Beat.
All images are printed in platinum/palladium on Crane’s Cover or Rising Stonehenge paper. Since all images were made using an 8x10 inch view camera, all prints are contact printed 8x10 inches, presented on 4-ply matboard.
